A former southwest Michigan police detective is awaiting sentencing after entering a no-contest plea in a case involving vehicle inspections.
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel says 54-year-old John Chase of Stevensville admitted no contest to misconduct in office and false certification charges.
Prosecutors say Chase improperly approved a number of salvage vehicle inspections while working for the Lincoln Township Police Department.
He is scheduled to be sentenced in Berrien County Circuit Court on August 10.
