The quality of disabled military veterans’ mobility equipment will be preserved in a bill that heads to President Barack Obama’s desk.

Congresswoman Jackie Walorski’s “Veterans Mobility Safety Act” already passed the U.S. Senate. On Wednesday, it passed a unanimous voice vote in the U.S. House of Representatives Wednesday, according to a statement from Walorski.

The bill creates new standards for the making of “automotive adaptive equipment” for disabled veterans. This includes wheelchair lifts and reduced-effort steering and braking systems, according to the Elkhart Truth.

Walorski feels the V.A. program is lacking in standards. She says there have been instances of improper installation of equipment and safety problems posed to disabled veterans.
