Habitual thief facing more time in prison in Elkhart Boost Mobile store robbery case

A habitual thief claims he wasn’t at the store he allegedly robbed, but his fingerprints tell a different story.

32-year-old Charles E. Rodgers Jr is accused of robbing the Boost Mobile store in Elkhart in Dec. 2014 and had a day in court Thursday, according to the Goshen News.

Witness statements and store surveillance footage suggest Rodgers is the suspect who picked up various items in the store in the footage while not wearing gloves. His fingerprints were found throughout the store, which he claimed he hadn’t been to.

Court papers show he has a history of armed robbery and battery, including some jail time. He entered a plea of got guilty to a charge of robbery with a deadly weapon and faces a jury trial in February. He faces three to 16 years in prison.
