Memorial Hospital has more room now for parents that need a place to stay while their children are admitted.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday served to officially open a new Ronald McDonald House of Michiana, according to the South Bend Tribune.

The 15,000 square-foot facility has 20 bedrooms and family rooms. President and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Michiana Becky Summers says many families were being turned away due to lack of space, so the expansion needed to happen.

A community open house has been planned from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday. A family is already waiting to move in on Monday.
