The Martin’s Supermarket location at Elwood Street will return. It’s just not totally clear yet what it will look like.

Rob Bartells, President and CEO of Martin’s, told ABC 57 that the location used to be Martin’s most profitable location. However, it hasn’t performed well in recent years and the company felt a change was needed.

That means that the store will be renovated into something smaller, according to Bartels. He says the store will be “re-purposed” and will have “less polish” until company officials determine what exactly will work there.

The store will close by September, around the same time the Portage Avenue Bridge closes for construction. In the meantime, the Do-It Best hardware store will remain open. All employees will be given opportunities at different locations.
