Notre Dame’s Sacred Music program gets big grant from Lilly Endowment

The University of Notre Dame has been given a $1.6 million grant to benefit the music department.

The grant, from the Lilly Endowment, supports the Sacred Music at Notre Dame program “and its transformative work with graduate students and the community,” according to the University’s website.

It’s the second time the program has benefited from the endowment, receiving almost $2 million from them in 2012 to launch the program.

The department offers programs for Master of Sacred Music and Doctor of Musical Arts which have expanded outreach efforts for music programs across northern Indiana. Graduates of the program have enjoyed a 100 percent placement record at schools and churches across the country.
