An arrest may be coming soon months after a fatal hit-and-run in Elkhart.

That’s because the Elkhart County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office expects results of forensic evidence to be returned “any day now,” according to the Elkhart Truth.

It’s expected that the evidence results will provide a “clear path forward” to determine who killed 8-month-old Dolly Thomas, 11-year-old Courtney Smith, and 22-year-old Shawn Wolcott. The three were walking along Beardsley Ave. near Cassopolis St. on Aug. 26 when a vehicle ran them and two others over. The other two people have since been treated and released.

A spokesperson says as soon as the results come in, Prosecutor Vicki Becker will make the announcement.
