Benton Harbor’s School Board voted unanimously Tuesday night to place Superintendent Shelly Walker on paid non-disciplinary administrative leave.

The exact nature of the investigation by a local law firm that led to the decision isn’t known, but Board President Marletta Seats told ABC 57 there were issues “regarding student safety and compliance with policies.”

This decision comes just one week after former Superintendent Dr. Leonard Seawood was given jail time and probation for embezzelment.

Assistant Superintendent Patricia Robinson will take over the duties of superintendent while Walker is on leave.
