A 33-year-old Elkhart County man was arrested Thursday night after leading police on a chase on the Indiana Toll Road.

Police tried to pull over 33-year-old Christopher Stoops at the 118 mile marker, three miles west of the Howe exit in LaGrange County, at about 9:30 p.m. for “multiple traffic infractions.”

Stoops instead drove on, avoiding stop sticks before exiting at the Middlebury exit and driving through a closed toll plaza gate. He eventually ran over multiple stop sticks and came to a stop in a cul-de-sac in Bristol 40 minutes after the chase began.

Stoops is charged with resisting law enforcement, reckless driving, and drunk driving, amongst other charges.
