Potawatomi Zoo opened their gates for the 2022 season

(Tom Franklin/95.3 MNC)

The Potawatomi Zoo opened its gates for the season last Friday, though it was a bit snowy.

It did not stop people from coming out to see the four new giraffes at the Laidig Giraffe Conservation Center.

The zoo says the giraffes aren’t quite ready to be fed by the public yet, but the visitor center is open until 4:00 p.m.

The zoo have a variety of strollers, carts, and wheelchairs available for rent on a first-come, first-serve basis. Concessions, the gift shop, and the Learning Center are all open.

For those who haven’t been in a while, there’s plenty of animals to see! Staff members remind you that If you don’t see an animal you’re looking for, look up, look behind things or circle back another time.

The Potawatomi Zoo is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., daily.

Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for children ages 3-to-14. Seniors 62 and older, plus kids under 2 are free. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or here.

The season ends on October 31st.
