A South Bend man has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and to being a habitual offender in the death of 37-year-old Catherine Minix of South Bend.

It was back in September of 2020 when Minix was found, stabbed to death, in the 900 block of East Fairview in South Bend.

Police were called to the area and found Minix’s body between two homes. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Richard Alexander was arrested.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office consulted with Minix’s family regarding the plea. Alexander will be sentenced to a range of 15-50 years next month.
