Believe it or not, the magnitude of the earthquake that devastated Turkey and parts of Syria could be felt here in Indiana.

Seismographs at the University of Southern Indiana were able to faintly measure tremors from the 7.8-magnitude earthquake.

Paul Doss, a geology professor at USI, says that the tectonic plate that Turkey rests one interacts with several other plates on the Earth which is why they were able to measure it.

So far more than 16,000 people are said to have been killed in the earthquake, as of Thursday morning.
