Indiana law to set minimum bystander distance for public at crime, fire scenes

A new Indiana law will set a minimum bystander distance for the public at crime or fire scenes.

 

Governor Holcomb signed House Enrolled Act 1186 into law last week. Once it takes effect on July 1st, the law gives police and firefighters the authority to clear an area 25 feet from an emergency.

 

It was approved by the House 68-to-26 and the Senate 32-to-10.
