It was during the early evening of Sunday, May 7, when a 42-year-old woman went missing near Dairy Road in Oronoko Township.
Investigators believe she had gone into the river when she noticed her 8-year-old son was struggling. The boy was found on an island in the river.
The boy has been released from the hospital.
