Head-on collision on County Road 40 leaves three injured

A head-on collision involving two vehicles on County Road 40 near County Road 7 left three individuals injured Wednesday evening, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, when a westbound Hyundai Santa Fe veered left of center and collided with an eastbound Ford Focus. Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage.
The driver of the Hyundai was airlifted to South Bend Memorial Hospital with complaints of neck pain. The driver of the Ford initially declined medical transport but later sought treatment for right leg pain at Elkhart General Hospital. A passenger in the Ford was transported by ambulance to Elkhart General Hospital for pain complaints. All individuals involved were reported to have been wearing seatbelts.
The driver of the Ford was cited for driving with a suspended license. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.
