Libraries in Michigan are preparing for the effects of possible federal cuts.
The Institute of Museum and Library Services provides grants to states across the country, with more than $8 million going to Michigan last year.
However, an executive order from the White House in March may be reducing or eliminating the IMLS.
WSJM says as a result of the elimination, the Michigan Electronic Library would be ended, taking away the ability for libraries in Michigan to borrow books from other libraries for their patrons.
Lincoln Township Library Director Joelle Wake urges anyone concerned about the issue to reach out to their member of Congress.

Why in the world were local governments so dependent on Federal handouts? Instead of being mad at Trump for cutting Federal waste, ask why local government agencies (libraries included) wouldn’t ask for their own tax funding! The answer is simple, they know most people would not approve of the spending so they launder the dollars up to the Federal level and back down.
