St. Joseph County Fire Territory launches emergency ambulance service

The St. Joseph County Fire Territory has launched its own emergency ambulance service, giving residents local access to faster ambulance care for the first time.
Fire Chief Steve Downey said their goal is to get help to people within about five minutes.
Since starting on Sunday, June 1, the team has already responded to at least 21 calls, benefiting the township and surrounding communities.

For those wondering, this fire territory consists of unincorporated Portage Township as well as Warren Township.
