Elkhart man facing felonies following crime spree

(Tommie Lee/MNC)

An Elkhart man is facing several felonies after a crime spree last year.

Trent Smith was arrested on June 20 and charged with burglary, unlawful possession of a handgun and theft.

Two burglaries were reported in September, with jewelry, tools, a handgun and a Mercedes Benz stolen from one location and a handgun and license plate stolen from another.

The Goshen News says Smith was found to be the shooter in a Dollar General parking lot, with the stolen guns and phone data linking him to the burglaries. Smith’s trial is scheduled for October 6.
