The Indiana Department of Transportation will host a public hearing regarding a proposed intersection improvement at State Road 2 and County Road 500 West.

Officials say the project aims to improve safety at the crash-prone intersection near La Porte, where 22 accidents occurred between 2017 and 2019.

INDOT’s preferred plan would replace the existing intersection with a single-lane roundabout featuring a truck apron.

The hearing is happening on November 17 and begins at 6 p.m. at the La Porte County Public Library Exchange, with doors opening at 5:30. Written comments will be accepted and considered for two weeks following the hearing.
