Several Democratic lawmakers are concerned about staffing levels in the Indiana Department of Child Services.
Senator Fady Qaddoura of Indianapolis says it is “extremely important for the General Assembly to revisit this topic of how to empower and support DCS financially,” and he adds they are constantly talking to the agency to ensure they are offering enough support.
The department says staffing levels have fallen to be able to meet 91% of the statewide need.
That’s down from 99% in 2023.
