The Elkhart Community Schools Board of Trustees will meet next week to begin the process of hiring the district’s next superintendent.
The move comes after Superintendent Dr. Larry Huff announced his resignation following his selection as the next superintendent of Rockford Public Schools. Dr. Huff will remain with Elkhart Community Schools through June 30, 2026, to provide continuity as the district continues work on consolidation, academics, staffing, and budget planning.
The Board thanked Dr. Huff for his service, citing academic gains during his two-year tenure, including improved literacy scores, graduation rates, dual credit participation, and test performance. The Board says it remains focused on student achievement, financial stability, and maintaining momentum during the leadership transition.
