An Elkhart teenager charged with attempted murder in a December shooting case will return to court later this month after objecting to a trial delay request.

Davonte Jones appeared in Elkhart County Circuit Court Thursday following the Monroe Street shooting that left two people injured on Dec. 23.

Police said officers found a 17-year-old suffering from gunshot wounds inside an apartment building, while another victim later arrived at the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Goshen News says Jones, who was also treated for injuries before being taken into custody, told the court he did not want his June 15 trial postponed until September.

A trial status conference was reset for May 28.
