Indiana man gets 32 years in prison for trying to burn in-laws' home

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — A central Indiana man has been sentenced to 32 years in prison after pleading guilty to arson for trying to set his in-laws’ Lafayette house on fire.

Twenty-seven-year-old Tyler Williams of Frankfort was also sentenced to six years of probation Monday in Tippecanoe County court. He pleaded guilty last month.

Prosecutors say Williams poured gasoline on his in-laws’ home in an attempt to set it ablaze in June 2014. Authorities say his wife, her parents and three children were inside the home at the time.

According to authorities, Williams told officers he had been kicked out of the house for cheating on his wife.
