Taste of India closes in Mishawaka over health code violations

A relatively new restaurant in Mishawaka was shut down because of health code violations this month, but it won’t be re-opening anytime soon.

Taste of India at 5540 N. Main St. closed May 12 after a St. Joseph County Health Department inspector found 31 health code violations, including 12 critical violations, the South Bend Tribune reported.

The violations included storing raw meat next to raw vegetables and storing foods at temperatures where bacteria could form.

Daljinder Singh opened the restaurant in October, but said he won’t re-open it because he’s selling the restaurant to someone else in two weeks.

If the new owner wants to re-open, they will have to have a perfect health code inspection.
