Looking for a new furry four-legged friend? The Humane Society of St. Joseph County has several dogs, cats, birds and other animals looking for a forever home.

This week’s Pet of the Week is Remy, a 4-year-old neutered male American bulldog.

“I have somewhat of a sad story. My owner passed away and I didn’t have anywhere else to go, so I was brought to the shelter to find a new forever home. My previous owner was very good to me and taught me how to sit, stay and lay down. I’m a very smart boy who loves to cuddle. Because I get a little anxious about my food, I need to be in a home with older kids. And since I’m so big, I need lots of room to roam, so apartment living is not for me. I like to play with squeaky toys and I take treats very nicely. Let’s get to know each other a little better in a playroom today and I’m sure you’ll fall in love!”

• Noon to 4 p.m. Sundays (May through September)

Adoptable cats and dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped and current on appropriate vaccinations and tests. Not all pocket pets are spayed, neutered, microchipped or vaccinated.
