Two Indiana lawmakers blasted Planned Parenthood after a controversial undercover video of a conversation with a top Planned Parenthood official was released on Tuesday, July 14.

The video was recorded last year and shows a conversation about donated parts from aborted fetuses between Planned Parenthood medical services senior director Dr. Deborah Nucatola and anti-abortion activists posing as potential buyers for a biologics company.

Planned Parenthood said in a statement that all donation of fetal parts is done with “full, appropriate consent from patients and under the highest ethical and legal standards.” The organization said that actual costs, such as transportation costs, are reimbursed, which is legal and standard.

U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-IN) said she is “thoroughly disgusted” with Planned Parenthood. 

“It’s completely inhumane that anyone would want to profit from the death of children, first by dismembering them and then by selling their organs piece by piece,” Walorski said in a statement issued to media. “This horrific abuse demands a response from Congress immediately.”

U.S. Sen. Dan Coats (R-IN) issued a statement saying the video is “beyond disgusting, and the practice of ending human life to make money has no place in modern society. Life is a sacred and precious gift that must be protected from the moment of conception. I hope there will be widespread, bipartisan condemnation of the reprehensible idea that profit can be made by terminating human life.”
