A South Bend man was convicted of federal sex trafficking charges on Thursday, July 16, after prosecutors said a took an underage girl to several states for prostitution in June 2014.

Douglas D. Jackson, 26, was found guilty of six federal counts of sex trafficking a minor and one federal count of possessing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence following a jury trial that lasted four days, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Evidence presented at trial showed that Jackson took a minor girl to Atlanta, Louisville and Grand Rapids, Mich., for prostitution, according to the news release. He was arrested June 14, 2014, in Grand Rapids.

Jackson faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 65 years in prison. He will be sentenced at a hearing scheduled for Oct. 22.
