One of the nine justices on the U.S. Supreme Court will visit the University of Notre Dame in South Bend next month.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor will be part of a public conversation with NBC News correspondent Anne Thompson moderated by U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Ann Claire Williams, according to a post on Notre Dame’s news website.

The conversation is from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Leighton Concert Hall at DeBartolo Performing Arts Center on the Notre Dame campus. The event is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Sotomayor will also meet with campus groups and faculty in private meetings while she is at Notre Dame.

The justice was nominated to the U.S. Supreme Court by President Barack Obama on May 26, 2009.
