PELLSTON, Mich. (AP) — A retreat center for veterans and their families has opened in Pellston.

The Petoskey News-Review reports that an open house will be held Saturday for the Brave Hearts Estate. The center is a project of Operation Injured Soldiers based in South Lyon. The foundation assists in rehabilitation of wounded veterans through hunting, fishing, camping trips and other activities.

A veteran donated the property last Veterans’ Day. The estate is 8,000 square feet on 283 acres.

It hosted its first two families in August. The center is available for free for veterans and family members.

The open house will include bands, hay rides, a picnic and tours.
