Wind advisory in effect for northern Indiana on Sunday afternoon

The snow may be gone, but the heavy winds haven’t died down yet.

A wind advisory is in effect from 1 to 8 p.m. EDT Sunday, April 3, in St. Joseph, LaPorte, Elkhart, Marshall and Kosciusko counties in Indiana, according to the National Weather Service.

Southwest winds will blow at speeds of 25 to 35 mph, with wind gusts up to 45 mph.

Because of that, the Indiana Toll Road is banning some vehicles from the roadway from 1 to 10 p.m. EDT.

Triple tractor-trailers, high-profile long-doubles and high-profile oversize permit loads, excluding low-profile steel haulers, will be banned from the roadway between mile marker 23 and mile marker 144. All other vehicles will be allowed.

Otherwise, the weather forecast for Sunday includes sunny skies and a high temperature of 58 degrees. Temperatures will drop for Monday, which is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high of 39 degrees.
