GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — A 14-year-old girl who was shot in the head during a mass shooting in southwestern Michigan continues to make strides in her recovery.
Video posted on YouTube shows Abigail Kopf walking, saying “hi” and waving to the camera at a Grand Rapids rehabilitation center.
Vickie Kopf told WOOD-TV on Monday that her daughter is “doing great” and has “the willpower to fight.” She says Abigail’s short-term memory is improving.
Police say Abigail was among eight people shot in the Kalamazoo area Feb. 20. The suspect, Jason Dalton, is accused of randomly targeting people between shuttling passengers for Uber. He’s charged with murder and attempted murder.
Abigail was shot in a restaurant parking lot. Four women with her were killed, as were two people at a car lot. Another victim survived.
