Cold temperatures, snow make the first week of April feel more like February

It may be spring break for many students in Michiana, but the weather this week feels more like late February.

The high temperature on Friday is expected to be only 36 degrees, which could be one of the coldest on record for April 8, ABC 57 Chief Meteorologist Tom Coomes reported. Saturday’s high temperature is not much better at 42 degrees.

The average temperature for the first week of April is typically 54 degrees.

The South Bend Cubs are expected to play their opening game at Four Winds Field on Thursday, April 7, and will only cancel if there is heavy snow or rain.
