The dealer let him borrow a vehicle. Later, he was accused of stealing it.

Charles Jackson was arrested Sunday after police say he took a vehicle from Lexus of Mishawaka without paying for it the day before, according to court documents and ABC 57.

Jackson had reportedly filled out a check incorrectly to buy the vehicle. The sales manager told Jackson he could use a 2013 Lincoln to go to the bank and have a check written out to Lexus of Mishawaka, according to police.

He didn’t return and, the following day, South Bend police say he was found sleeping in the vehicle in downtown South Bend.

Jackson was arrested and charged with auto theft.
