Winamac man dies in fatal Porter County crash

KOUTS, Ind. (AP) — A northwestern Indiana motorist has died and a young girl has been seriously injured after the car they were riding in collided with a police car.

Porter County Sheriff’s deputies say 45-year-old Robert Lindsey of Winamac died at a hospital following the crash Sunday night on Indiana Route 8 in the town of Kouts. The (Northwest Indiana) Times reports a 4-year-old girl in his car was ejected and airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Deputies say Lindsey failed to yield the right of way and was struck on the driver’s side by a Kouts police car driven by 24-year-old Officer Brock Moore, who was on duty at the time. He was treated for head lacerations.
