A South Bend woman is going to prison for causing the death of a motorcyclist last year.

37-year-old Lisa Dean was sentenced to six years in the Indiana Department of Correction, four years suspended, and two years of probation. Her license has also been suspended for 12 years and she’s been ordered to pay over $15,000 in restitution.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office says Dean was driving drunk at about 8 p.m. on July 9, 2016 on Ironwood Road south of Altgeld Street. Dean crossed the center line and hit a motorcycle being ridden by 63-year-old Alan Zellers.

Zellers was taken to Memorial Hospital, where he died a day later due to injuries from the crash.

Dean was facing up to 12 years in prison.
