BURNS HARBOR, Ind. (AP) — Steelmaker ArcelorMittal says a control room fire at its northwest Indiana mill forced it to temporarily shut down the complex’s rolling mill and shearing line.

No one was injured when Friday night’s fire swept a control room for one of the shearing lines at the Burns Harbor plant’s 160-inch plate mill.

The (Northwest Indiana) Times reports the fire prompted ArcelorMittal to shutter the rolling mill and shearing line.

The rolling mill was expected to return online Tuesday but repairs to the shearing line will take longer.

ArcelorMittal spokeswoman Mary Beth Holdford says the steelmaker expects “only minimal, if any, impact” on its ability to meet customer demand.

ArcelorMittal employs nearly 3,400 workers on a nearly 2,000-acre swath along Lake Michigan in Porter County, where it’s one of the largest employers.
