Teen suspected of having gun at school charged as an adult

The Washington High School student arrested after police say he brought a gun to school has been chraged as an adult.

Ryan Wilson, 17, faces a charge of carrying a handgun without a license while on or in school property.

It was on Wednesday, Nov. 29, when school officials approached Wilson after hearing he may have brought a weapon onto the South Bend school campus.

According to court documents, an officer found a .45-caliber handgun in Wilson’s front pocket. The gun was loaded but there was no bullet in the chamber.

Besides the legal trouble he’s in, Wilson faces a mandatory one-year expulsion.
