Two of our local representatives in Congress were on a GOP train that hit a garbage truck Wednesday morning.
The train was headed to West Virginia on a “policy retreat” when it encountered a garbage truck in the way. The train hit the truck, killing one person on the truck and seriously injuring another.
Congresswoman Jackie Walorski was not on the train, but fellow Republicans Jim Banks and Fred Upton were. Both checked in on Twitter after the crash.
Amanda and I are on the train carrying GOP members to our annual retreat that just had an accident. We are okay, but please join us in praying for those injured and their families.

Banks said that he and his wife Amanda were ok and asked for prayers for the victims on the truck.
The train carrying GOP members to our retreat had a collision. Amey and I are both OK. Docs and security on board are helping secure the scene.

Upton and his Amy were also on board and noted to ABC 57’s Taylor Popielarz that the House Chaplain performed last rites on the person who died and that there were also minor injuries to the train’s engineers.
