Mishawaka man dead, passenger injured after motorcycle crash in Osceola

A fight at a bar on Lincolnway West in Mishawaka leads to a fatal police chase in Osceola.

Officers were called to the Phoenix Bar just before 1 a.m. Saturday after getting a report that a woman attacked someone in the bar. Police say that woman got on a motorcycle a man was driving and the two sped off.

About 20 minutes after the fight, officers catch up to the motorcycle, who speeds off and leads officers on a high-speed chase to Osceola, where the bike crashed near Jefferson and Bittersweet.

The drive, 46-year-old John Williams, died at the scene. His 41-year-old female passenger was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The area was closed to traffic for much of the early morning hours.
