NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (AP) — A central Indiana woman who survived last year’s shooting in Las Vegas says she’s still coping with a recent shooting at the middle school she teaches at.
Shelly Alexander tells The Herald that she “felt very alone” after she was caught in the line of fire in Las Vegas while in a taxi during October’s mass shooting, where a gunman killed 58 people.
Alexander is an assistant to special education students at Noblesville West Middle School. A 13-year-old student opened fire at the school on May 25, wounding a student and a teacher. She says the school shooting is something different and the community is “all going through it together.”
Alexander says she never thought she’d experience another shooting situation. She’s been attending counseling to help cope with the events.
