A popular distillery in Three Oaks has a stay of execution from a looming cease and desist order.

That’s because Journeyman Distillery has reached an agreement to haul its wastewater away to another treatment area for 90 days.

Village officials claimed the distillery was discharging more wastewater than is legally allowed, causing too much strain on the village’s treatment system.

During the 90 day period, the village council will come up with a more permanent plan. Journeyman Distillery will have at least two weeks to find a place to haul their wastewater.

Much of the people at Wednesday night’s meeting backed the distillery, saying the council was setting them up for failure.
