Splash pads, pools open in South Bend during excessive heat weekend

(Photo supplied/City of South Bend)

We’re expecting three straight days of a Heat Index over 100 degrees between now and Sunday. If you’re looking to beat the excessive heat this weekend, the City of South Bend has a couple of ideas.

South Bend Venues & Parks suggests stopping by the Kennedy Water Playground, the Potawatomi Park Pool, or one of South Bend’s six splash pads.

The splash pads are free and open to the public seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. You can find them at the South East Neighborhood Park, Coquillard Park, the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Rec Center, the Charles Black Sr Community Rec Center, O’Brien Park, Potawatomi Park, and Fremont Park.

You can also follow South Bend Venues & Parks on Facebook for info on events all summer long.

The Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for our area until 8 PM Sunday.
