13-year-old detained for Syracuse slashing incident

A 13-year-old boy was taken to the Juvenile Justice Detention Center in South Bend after allegedly “slashing” a man.

The boy’s identity was not revealed in a news release from the Syracuse Police Department.

The injury to the 34-year-old victim was serious but non-life-threatening, according to the release.

At approximately 7:43 p.m. Wednesday, Syracuse police were dispatched to 500 block of Prairie Drive regarding a stabbing.

On arrival, officers determined the boy had slashed the victim after a brief altercation. Officers were told the victim left the scene and was taken to Goshen General Hospital in a private vehicle.

The suspect was taken into custody and taken to the detention center.
