Woman killed, two officers injured in crash in Berrien County

A 69-year-old woman was killed and two officers were injured, one of them seriously, in a crash on M-140 and Territorial Road in Bainbridge Township.

The collision happened just before 3:30 p.m. on On Sunday, Sep. 16, when investigators with the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department say the woman ran a stop sign at the intersection and struck a Pokagon Tribal Police Department patrol car.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Pokagon Tribal Police car was taken by ambulance to Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.  The officer who was a passenger in the vehicle was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

The officers were en route to a domestic violence incident when the crash occurred.

Both Pokagon Tribal Officers and the woman driving the passenger car were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.

Weird looks like they straight tboned her. Now whether she didnt yield to them? Thats the question.
