A Florida man was arrested in La Porte County Saturday for driving a stolen vehicle.

Police report they spotted the stolen vehicle on SR 212, and after running the vehicle’s license plate, attempted to pull it over.

The driver refused, instead leading the officers on a pursuit that continued to a parking lot in the 900 block of Southwood Avenue. It was there that the vehicle finally stopped.

David Whitney, 34 of Clermont,  Florida, exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot before he was detained. According to police, he violently resisted before he was taken into custody.

Whitney is being held at the La Porte County Jail without bond.
