More erosion along the Lake Michigan shoreline

High waves on Lake Michigan hammered the shoreline again on Friday.

Waves were as high as 15′ to 17′ along the coast from the state line up to Holland. That meant more beach and dune erosion in places like New Buffalo and St. Joseph…and flooding that impacted South Haven and Benton Harbor.

MDOT has again had to close Main Street at Riverview Drive in Benton Harbor again Friday morning.

The National Weather Service said winds were 30 to 40 mph, gusting to 50. North facing shorelines were hit hardest due to the direction of the winds.
