Police investigating after missing dog was found shot to death

A Niles family is in mourning after their beloved Husky-mix dog who went missing for nearly a week was found shot to death.

The dog’s name was Slash. He was 7-years-old. He was rescued by Jaimi Clifford and her husband five years ago after suffering abuse.

Slash had gotten out of the family’s gated yard on Oct. 16.

The couple began a days-long search for the dog and while scouting out a wooded area, last week, the couple found Slash dead, with five bullet wounds to its head, according to the Niles Daily Star.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office and Cass County Animal Control are investigatiing the dog’s death.
