Elkhart man injured in Cass County motorcycle crash

An Elkhart man is injured after he was struck while riding his motorcycle in Cass County Wednesday.

The crash happened at the intersection of U.S. Hwy 12 and Tharp Lake Road just before 4:30 p.m.

Police report the motorcycle was traveling westbound on U.S. 12 when a northbound vehicle failed to stop, striking the rear tire of the motorcycle and sending it into a small grass field.

The rider was transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital for his injuries. Police report he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Alcohol may also have been a factor in the incident.
