The threat of severe weather may be over for Michiana, but life-threatening conditions at the shoreline will exist through Friday evening, July 30.

That, from the National Weather Service, which is predicting winds to lead to dangerous wave and currents at all of our Lake Michigan beaches.

With the high swim risk, you’re advised to stay off the piers and out of the water.

Though Michiana missed the worst of the severe weather, Thursday morning, more than 3,700 Indiana Michigan Power customers still lost electricity, due to downed power lines, or trees that toppled in the brief but gusty winds and heavy rain.

Damage was scatted in pockets across LaPorte, St. Joseph, Elkhart and Kosciusko County. Officials in Oswego also say a house on 2nd Street caught fire after being hit by lightning.

ABC 57 News reports the garage was destroyed and siding melted off the back of the house.
