Trial underway for Elkhart County man accused of killing uncle

The trial for an Elkhart man who is accused of killing his uncle, Byron Bussard at a home where they lived in Bristol is underway this week.

Byron Bussard was shot and killed in 2015.

Charles Bussard, 31, was arrested after he came to police with information in January of last year.

Bussard was deemed competent to stand trial, earlier this year, after receiving three mental evaluations.

Prosecutors say Bussard was tired of hearing rude comments from his uncle, got a 12 gauge shotgun from his father’s room, the fired the gun at his uncle’s head. After that, the coverup began.
